open'er festival 2014

There was another music-related event ahead of me. So after two weeks since Lana's gig
I was on my way to Gdynia, northern Poland.

Gdynia holds one of the biggest music festivals in eastern Europe - Open'er Festival.
It takes place every year in July and lasts for four days.  This summer was the first time I went (and definitely not the last one - I had a blast!)

Before the festival has started, I'd spent a few days in Gdynia itself. Me and my friend have also gone to Sopot. (pictures were taken with my iphone, so sorry for the quality)

2nd of July was the first day of the festival and that's the one I've attended. The reason was simple - Foster The People were going to perform.

We got to Kosakowo around 5pm. (after 40 minutes ride, it's quite far away from central Gdynia)

Took a bus to the main area (we were so excited! don't blame us though - we were newbies to the whole open'er-experience so every little thing got us over the moon basically), got a wristbands and everything else sorted out and there we were - at Open'er Festival 2014.

We wandered around for a bit, bought something to drink (non-alcohol though) and headed
straight to the main stage cuz that was the stage where all the gig we've wanted to see were taking place.
The weather was quirky, it was sunny and then all of a sudden a cold wind would blow.
It was a good idea to take a jacket after all.
We were standing right in front of the barriers.
After waiting for four long hours (I'll be a master in that soon, seriously) Interpol started to perform.
Didn't really know their songs before (well maybe I knew a two or three - but they didn't play them suprisingly) but they were okay I guess.
The Black Keys were next and I definitely enjoyed them more! They are great live (I recommend everyone to go to their gig, you'll have a lot of fun) I liked Dead and Gone and Gold on the Ceiling most.
It was their first gig in Poland (after few days they announced their second concert that's scheduled for February). Dan said that he's family is partly from Poland and it was cool to come here.

When TBK's concert ended we had another three hours of waiting - Foster The People were
playing at 1am. It was so bloody cold, I was shivering even though I had a t-shirt, sweater and a jacket on.
Next time I'll be more prepared for these extrime weather conditions.

They started with Don't Stop and everyone went mental. It was so cool to be able to see them
perform after two years (I've gone to their gig in London, 2012) - they haven't changed at all, still great live.

I don't remember much because I was too excited. We were dancing and singing along with Mark.
He was so happy to be back, he said that he remembered shows they played in Warsaw.
After the gig has ended (they played Miss You as the last song, little bastards) I waited cuz I felt like something was going to happen. And it was indeed.

Clay, one of their crewmen, went off the stage and gave out a few setlists - I got one.
And they even wrote on in (well, maybe not exactly) but my life has been made anyway.

It was the last show that day, so everybody were leaving.
Me and Maya decided to make use out of our 'festival card' (you could pay with it) and buy some chips. Well when I think about it now maybe it wasn't the best idea considerating it was 3am.

While eating our chips and heading to a tent where Jamie XX was playing we passed this teeny stage.
People were dancing singing and after they played JT's Cry Me A River so were we.
We just couldn't resist, you know.

It was around 4am by know and we wanted to finish that great day/evening doing something even more awesome. So we went to the beach and saw a sunrise. That day was perfect.

rush hour in a middle of a storm

After wandering through Pariser Platz for quite some time we decided to come back.
We were moving slowly and I'm the only one to blame - I can't help it when it comes to beautiful
buildings/places in general but to take a picture of it.

Saying 'goodbye' (or should I write - 'see you soon'?) to Brandenburg Gate.
We got back to the flat, packed our stuff and went out once more - there was a store
we really wanted to visit.

That was the only promotion of Lana's gig in Berlin we've seen. We were quite shocked that they
haven't advertised it more.
Heading to the Alexander Platz for the thousandth time.

We went to Lush, but didn't buy anything. Wish we had this store here anyway!
And of course we had ice-creams in Eiscafe Lampe, they have one of the best ice-creams I've ever eaten.

Then we decided to go and buy some bits and bobs in Alexa. Ed Sheeran was going to
perform there the next day, we were devastated that we didn't get to see him!
The clouds were suggesting that it was going to rain, but fortunately it did not.
We were looking for a particular street, but nobody could help us with finding it so we got lost.
Like a thousand times. But that's okay - we got to see a different part of Berlin which was really cool.

We found our way after all, took our luggages and rushed to the bus station.
It was a rush hour, traffic jam was terrible (due to the time and all the festivals) and we got to the station 15 minutes before our bus departure. Wouldn't mind spending another day in Berlin though.
We had a seven-hour trip ahead of us and I was so sad to leave Germany.

(gonna be back soon I hope)
