there are things that we can't predict

I'm typing this while drinking coffee and looking through wide windows. It's snowing heavily but there's something wrong with the view. Instead of looking at Luxembourgian streets I'm seeing Tychy getting covered in white puff. These two days weren't in my favour and I'm going to tell you why.

I was so excited about this trip. I mean it was going to be my first ever travel on my own. Spending over a week in Luxembourg sounded lovely, not even mentioning a day off in Brussels.
What's the saying? If you want to make God laugh tell him abour your plans? Well I don't consider myself as a religious person but it pretty much summes up my life right now.

On Thursday I came to Tychy and on Friday I was meant to fly to Frankfurt-Hahn.
I got a lift from a lovely couple from Warsaw and I couldn't believe how much we have in common. It turned out that they've lived in Australia for two years and if that's not exciting enough - they've spent four months travelling back to Europe through Asia. They even have a photoblog dedicated to their adventures. You can also find them here. We were talking non-stop and I don't even know when we got to Tychy. I feel so inspired to travel now. I love when I meet people like these two pretty much by accident. That's what life is about.

The next day I woke up at 5am as my bus to Katowice was leaving at 6:10. It was around 8:30 when I got at the airport. Everything went smoothly and soon I was waiting for our gate to open. And when it finally did it turned out that the plane wasn't even at the airport. So we were said to wait 30 minutes. And another 30 minutes. After four hours of constant waiting everyone got angry and anxious. All the flights got either transfered to a different city or cancelled. I got scared that ours might be cancelled as well and I didn't have to wait for too long for that bad news.

I was there completely alone and didn't really know how to react. Thankfully I met a family that's helped me. The queue to Wizzair office consisted of over one thousand people so I opted for not going there. Instead of that, Dominik gave me an nearly hour long drive back to Tychy and I'll be grateful for that until I die. We talked about that whole commotion and about traveling in general. It turned out that he's lived in Perth for quite some time and that he has been to countries like Saigon etc. It cannot be a coincidance that I've met three people who's been to Land Down Under in such small amount of time. I have to go there someday too.

In the end I've managed to rebook my tickets for Monday but I'm not quite satisfied with this fact as 26th was the day when I was meant to go to Brussels and my tickets are gone. I've bought them for 0€ and now they are over 15€ so I have to bail. Hope I'll be able to visit it soon and to meet lovely Elizavieta that was meant to host me ;-)

So I can say that I got reminded that we cannot plan everything but also to look for positives in such situations. I've learnt my lesson and when something like that happens in the future I'll know what to do.

Hopefully next time I write something it will be about a delightful stay in Luxembourg.

plans for January

Hi! How is it going?

It's so crazy that January will soon be over! I can't get over the fact that time flies so fast. It's important to make the most out of it. And sticking to this rule, I have an exciting news to share.

In December I got an invitation from my aunt to visit her in Luxembourg. I've been there once and I'm still amazed by its beauty. I'm pretty convinced this city is one of its kind and I cannot wait to back. This time I'll be sure to have my tripod with me and take some star lapse / evening pictures. Also I've been thinking of doing a little video/vlog from this trip but I don't know how it will turn out.

Anyway -  the thought of finding new places and meeting new people cheers me up so much!I've been so worn out by school and everything that I think this trip will drag me away from going completely crazy. I'm flying to Frankfurt on 23rd and then I'll have to take a shutter bus to Luxembourg. Knowing my luck I won't get to the bus stop on time so I'll have to wait another 2 hours at the airport (hope they have coffee and free wi-fi there). I'm a bit scared because it's going to be my first travel on my own.
But hey - if I want to travel the world, I have to get used to that!

On 26th of January I will be also travelling to Brussels as I found tickets for 0€ and I couldn't resist :) I'll be a bit short on time but I hope I'll be able to see the main attractions of this beautiful city (and probably have a waffle with a cup of coffee of course)

One thing I can say for sure - I'm going to start this year in the best way possible! I'll be sure to post more from my travels (as I'm planning more!) as well as pictures and other things.

Let's make 2015 an unforgettable one.

2014 recapitulation

It's been a while since I wrote something. And as 2015 is around the corner I decided it's time I summed 2014 up. On 31st od December 2013 I posted a picture with a caption:

"finding the coolest places with the best people, drinking coffee, taking pictures, travelling, reading, overthinking stuff, learning Swedish, attending more gigs - those are my plans for 2014"

I must admit it's a bit cheesy written, but you get the idea. So how did I do?

In January me and my friend visited my family in southern Poland. We had a lot of fun while freezing to death. I don't have any photos from this trip apart from this one taken with my Diana Mini.
See these icicles? Yeah it really was that cold! Our return train almost got cancelled due to heavy snowing and ice but fortunately we got back without any suprises.

February wasn't really that exciting besides the fact that I turned 17. Such a weird age to be, you feel like an adult but legally you're not. You're not a child either - cannot wait till I finally turn 18 in a few months.

In March I attended the first gig of 2014. My friend and I went to see The Dumplings - a band of two teenagers who are enormously talented. I couldn't believe they were the same age as I was. After the concert we had a chance to meet them and it was one of the coolest experiences in my life. Meeting people with a passion for something really inspires me and motivates me to make my dreams come true so that was pretty much perfect. And I was truly astonished by their modesty - I guess that changed a bit now that they have accomplished so much in such a small amount of time but still. Fingers crossed for them.

April went really fast because of school assigments and Easter. I don't even remember what I've done in that month. I hate when that happens.

Then May came and I went to Cracow for the first time. It's such a beautiful city! I wanted to take a picture of everything. Literally! If you ever have a chance to come to this city, don't hesitate! :)

We laughed so hard  about how they misspelt Peter's name.
I called Peter "Riotr" a couple of times after that.
I also had a chance to see The Neighbourhood and gawd, that gig was so good! So good!
(even if afterwards we had to wait 2 hours in coldness because all the buses were full - still worth it)

And June... undoubtly the best month of this year. So many things happend, spontanous or not, everything about this month is perfect. 1# It started to get warmer. 2# We went to Orange Warsaw Festival with Peter. 3# I took a spontanous trip to Berlin with by friend and saw Lana Del Rey again. 4# End of school.
I mean, it couldn't get any better.

In JulyI went to the north for a change. Visiting Gdynia and Sopot was a cool experience, really relaxing and calming. Just what I needed after a long year of studying. Oh, and I saw Foster The People again and even got a signed setlist after the show. No biggie.

August, September, November, October and December were like a blink of an eye. It went so fast and I didn't do anything exciting. It's kind of scary how fast time flies without even realising it. Hopefully next year I will get out of my life even more so I will have to write something about every month without skipping anything.

So yeah, it's been a great one for me. At least I think so!
2015 will be more exciting though. I have so much planned I can't wait for all these things to happen.

2015, bring it on!

Hope you'll have a fabulous New Year.

under one roof with The Kooks

This year has definitely been a good one to me. Well, at least music-wisely.
Orange Warsaw Festival is another music event I've attended. And maan, it was fun!
Never been there before, but the line up was so good I couldn't miss it.

Me and my friend Peter decided to attend the second day and it was a good decision.

The weather was a pain to be honest - it was sunny and then suddenly it started to rain.
Ella Eyre was the first to perform. I'm not a huge fun of her, but she does have a great voice I must admit.
We've been running from one stage to another and let me tell you - it was exhausting!
(there was a lot of stairs involved)
The Wombats were great. I love that British vibe in their songs.
Bombay Bicycle Club were next and I'm so glad I got to see them live! Now I'm obssesed with their music.

Then we went outside again, this time to see Hurts. Their gig was bloody amazing too, but I was waiting for the next to come - my beloved The Kooks.
Despite the fact that I didn't have the best place and I almost got killed by a drunk fangirl next to me - I had a blast! I've been a fan of their music for years and being able to hear Naive and other songs live was just great. I'll never forget it.
I've attended Orange Warsaw Festival particularly because of them to be honest. Best decision ever. (and yes, Luke Pritchard is really that handsome)
Florence and The Machine performed next. We were kinda far away from the stage, so I couldn't see much, but it didn't matter since I heard everything perfectly. And as much as I admire Florence's voice I think that all that "jazz" around her is just a bit artificial. She was doing and saying the same things as she was the previous year in Cracow. Me and Peter were disappointed so we had left before the gig has ended.

I hope I will be able to attend OWF next year though. It's fun!

berlin trip 2015

I've been so busy these past two weeks that I didn't get a chance to write anything. I've put everything aside including my social life (which is probably not a good thing) and utterly devoted myself to my school assignments. Sometimes I wish I didn't pay so much attention to these stuff, but I just can't help it. Even if it affects me and my life in a bad way.

So since nothing exciting is happening I thought I'd write about my plans for early 2015 to cheer myself up.

I'm going to turn 18 on 11th of February. And I don't know how it is in your country, but here, 18th birthday means a step into adolestence and is rather greatly celebrated. As much as I'd love to spend that day with my family and friends, I have slightly different plans. Let's be honest - my perception on traditions rather differs from others so an idea of spending this exciting time in a foreign country and meeting people who can inspire me in some ways makes me super-stoked.

When I saw that Alt-J is going to perform in Berlin on the exact same day as my birthday I knew that it was meant to be. I asked my friend Jenny (whom I met last time I was in Berlin and who saved me from getting totally lost) if she would like to attend that concert with me. And in no time our tickets were on their way. It still feels like a dream - I always admired Alt-J music and now in a few months I'm going to actually hear them live. Somebody pinch me, please.

I will be in Berlin for briefly four days, but I plan to spend them more productively than I did the last time. Besides attending Alt-J concert I don't really know what to do. I'm arriving on February 10th and I thought of visiting Sony Center in Potsdamer Platz. Seeing a panorama of Berlin in the evening would be quite an experience, wouldn't it? I also want to visit at least one museum and go for a coffee in Five Elephant as it is said to have the best coffee and cheescake in the city.

I'm super excited because it's going to be my first trip on my own. I cannot think of anything better - just imagine: you're in a foreign city, there's so much to see and it's just you to experience all of what's to come.

Could you recommend me any cool place in Berlin? I'd really appreciate it.

a step to understanding jewish history a bit better

On Thursday me as well as my class took a trip to Warsaw. We had a pretty hectic schedule, but it all turned out to be okay and we had a great time. Firstly, we visited Powązki, which is a cementary for people who made great contribution for Poland.
There were a lot of people because 1st of November was around the corner. Here in Poland we don't really have anything like Halloween (but it's getting more and more popular I have to admit). Instead we visit graves of the loved ones that are not with us anymore.
Then we went to Polin - newly opened Museum of the History of Polish Jews. The building itself is really impressive. You can immediately tell that it was designed by a scandinavian designer. So neat and spacious.
The whole museum is devided into nine various parts. Every one of them is dedicated to a different aspect of Jewish history. Firstly, you go through a part called "Forest" - it tells a legend of the begining of Polish Jews.
What I really like about this museum is its modernity. There are lots of interactive boards, games that help us to gain knowledge better.
The only con of this place in my opinion is that it has so many informations it's hard to remember everything.

Anyway, it was great to be able to go there and have opportunity to understand Jewish history and legacy a bit more. If you ever get a chance to visit this place - do it! You'll learn a lot.

having a blast in cracow

The weather just simply didn't want to get better. It rained. A lot.
Nevertheless we didn't let it get to us - with grins on our faces we were wandering through cubbled streets of Cracow. We found a great place to cheer ourselves up - Cupcake Corner Bakery. It doesn't get any better than a cup of good coffee and a cupcake to go along with it. I went for peanut butter one (well, obviously) and Peter decided to have raspberry and chocolate one. And as finger-licking good they were I don't think I've ever been so sugared up in my life.

It kept on raining for quite some time and soon the river was near to overflood.

We were scared the concert will get canceled but fortunately the weather cleared out last minute and it all was okay. We wanted to get to the place an hour earlier but of course something had to go wrong and we found ourselves being lost and wandering through some unknown streets and forests (yeah, forests) with a group of russian girls who didn't know the way either. Sounds like fun, right? In the end we found the place and to our astonishment we were really close to the stage. Like in second row, so it was perfect if you ask me.

There were few polish artists performing. But I enjoyed Dawid Podsiadło the most. He's very talented young vocalist and he's actually won that "talent tv show" here in Poland.
Brodka's performance was pretty cool as well, but I couldn't wait till The Neighbourhood show.
I've got just these two. I couldn't care less about taking pictures during their gig, somebody had to scream at the top of theirs lungs after all, am I right? They've performed for around 45 minutes which was a shame, but I've enjoyed myself anyway. There's just that cool vibe to them, and the lyrics, everything fits perfectly.

If you ever get a chance to go and see them live - please do. You won't regret it.
