arriving in amsterdam

It's 3am in the morning and we're still half-asleep but it doesn't mean that we're too half-asleep to have a bowl of porridge (of course) to get us going. We're not running late but we get our luggages in a hurry anyway, we don't want things to go bad.

Driving through Warsaw in the middle of the night feels rather special, even though I despise this city. (kind of harsh for me to say that, I know) We're wondering why this city has a weird atmosphere going on and we agree that's probably because so many people died there during the war. Then we agree that it's probably too early for us to think about those things so we keep silence till we arrive at the station.

It's very warm considering it's only 4am. We're getting more and more excited, we're doing to Amsterdam after all! We arrive at the station, then we take the train to the airport and in no time we're seated in the plane. The flight is fine and as soon as we're above the Netherlands we see all those beautiful fields. It's green everywhere and we're wondering how we'll feel about this country. Neither of us have ever been to Holland.

We land at Eindhoven's airport and it gets to us. The temperature I mean. Considering it was around 25 degrees in Warsaw (in the middle of the night let me add!) - having to get used to 1 degree is a struggle.
I mean, we knew from the beginning that something would go wrong - we've forgotten half of the things that we wanted to take with us. It hasn't even been three weeks till our trip to Denmark so we were still kind of mellow I guess. But hey, wouldn't it be boring if everything always went great? I don't think so.

We have our coffee while waiting for the bus to Amsterdam. The wind blows strongly but we're staying positive. We're looking forward to seeing all those beautiful canals and buildings in one of the most beautiful cities in the whole world.

copenhagen diaries: day three

It's 28th of March and it's our last day in Denmark's capital. We wake up feeling kind of sad knowing that in just few hours we'll be on our way back to Poland. Nevertheless, we put that attitude to the side and with tummies full with delicious porridge made by Vincent we get out to say goodbye to Copenhagen.

copenhagen diaries: day two

It's 10:30 on a cloudy Sunday morning and I've been awake for quite some time now. Boys are still asleep and I'm patiently waiting for them to wake up. In the meantime I'm talking with Vincent, making sure that me and Peter actually get to his place without getting lost every five minutes.

lomo amsterdam

It's been ages since I wrote something here and there's no excuse for that. Well, maybe except my normal and down-to-earth life taking over so that I couldn't get myself to drown in dreams again and write about my adventures.

I still have a draft of the next Copenhagen post, I just need to finish it. (at some point)
Before that happens though, I thought I'd share some lomo pictures from my latest trip to Amsterdam. (that I will write about as well)

copenhagen diaries: day one

It's the next day and we wake up around 8am. It's a bliss to have slept for almost eight hours. A cup of freshly grounded coffee and the idea of having breakfast at Groed's makes me instantly believe that it's going to be a good day. Oh, and hey - the sun is peeking through the dramatic clouds. Could it get any better?

the best porridge place on earth - grød

Before I write all about the precious time I had in Denmark's capital, I decided to share a very special place with you. As you may or may not know, I'm a big porridge person. I mean, is there any better way of starting off your day than with a bowl of warm and delicious porridge? I don't think so.

Before I go somewhere I always do a little research on places worth going to so when I found out that there's a cafe in Copenhagen that specialises in porridges I knew I had to visit it.

a day trip to malmo

If you told me a year ago that I would go to Scandinavia, I would have never believed you. It was my ultimate dream destination and to be honest, I don't even know why. There's just something very different and interesting at the same time to this particular part of Europe: history, culture, languages. (and well, I feel like I need to mention Vikings here as I'm a history geek like that) This trip taught me many things about Denmark, things that actually made me fall for this country. Now I'm 100% sure that it is the perfect place for me to live in the near future. (I'm even willing to pay that horrendous 36% tax)

On 27th (our first full day in Scandinavia) we decided to go to Malmo as it's a stone's throw from Copenhagen. I was really excited as I didn't know what to expect...
